Director of Quantitative Research: Mark Turner (PhD) Mark Turner-Director of Clarity Research Ltd.
Mark's background is in quantitative research methods and outcome evaluation, although he has naturally progressed to predominantly working in Mixed Methods evaluation.

As Mark has been in this field for over ten years, he is also able to call on more experienced evaluators and researchers to collaborate on projects.

Mark worked as a researcher in the area of first episode psychosis for over ten years. His recent work has included on-going evaluation of Family Help Trust, which operates child abuse-prevention services for high-risk families in Christchurch.

Mark is a member of the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) and Clarity Research subscribes to their Code of Ethics and Guidelines for the Ethical Conduct of Evaluations. Mark is also a member of Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association (ANZEA).

Mark has published a number of papers in refereed journals and is a peer reviewer for journals including Australia & New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, New Zealand Medical Journal and Social Psychiatry & Psychiatric Epidemiology. Mark is an expert consultant for the Canadian Institute of Health Research and the Health Research Board of Ireland. Mark has conducted numerous evaluations for NGOs and public services.

After working for CERA following the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, Mark now works on the 2018 Census for StatsNZ.

Director of Qualitative Research: Ria Schroder (PhD) Ria Schroder-Director of Clarity Research Ltd.
Ria completed her PhD at the University of Canterbury in 2004. In September 2012, Ria was employed as the Research and Evaluation Manager for the Collaborative.  She is also a Research Fellow at the National Addiction Centre, University of Otago, Christchurch.  

Ria has undertaken and supervised a number of research and evaluation studies in the area of youth health and development and she has a particular interest in youth substance use and addiction, sexual health and positive youth development. Ria is primarily a qualitative researcher but also has some experience doing quantitative research.

In her role as Research and Evaluation Manager Ria overseas the research and evaluation operations of the Collaborative Trust. This role allows Ria to draw on the talents of some of Christchurch's brightest young researchers.
